September 18 is International Equal Pay Day, a day to highlight the longstanding global campaign for gender pay equity.
In 2025, women in Canada made 72 cents on every dollar made by men, and that gap only increases for Indigenous, racialized, Black, and immigrant women, and women with disabilities.
New research shows an increasing gender pension gap in Canada over the last 50 years caused by more reliance on private pension plans and the accumulative effects of lower pay over a lifetime.
