Seeking volunteer lawyers for Canadian Human Rights Act legal info sessions

WERC-CÉDT is seeking volunteer lawyers to conduct free 30-minute legal information sessions with current or prospective complainants on the Canadian Human Rights Act complaint process.

Most individuals pursuing complaints under the CHRA are unrepresented and have little or no support navigating the complicated complaint process. As part of our CHRA Project, WERC-CÉDT is offering free, confidential legal information sessions to unrepresented individuals who have experienced discrimination and either have filed or are considering filing a complaint under the CHRA.

WERC-CÉDT will handle the intake and screening of requests for legal information sessions. Volunteers can choose the number of sessions they accept and can choose the timing of each session to suit their schedule.

We will hold a brief information and training session later this month for all volunteers.

If interested in volunteering, please contact Legal and Programs Director Amanda Montague-Reinholdt at amanda@werc-cedt.ca.
