WERC-CÉDT officially incorporates as non-profit organization
The Workers’ Education and Rights Collective / Collectif d’éducation et droits des travailleurs et travailleuses (WERC-CÉDT) has officially been incorporated as a non-profit organization.
WERC-CÉDT’s mandate is to empower workers to exercise their rights through legal education, information, and support. WERC-CÉDT will serve Ottawa residents and federally regulated individuals in exercising their labour, employment, human, and environmental rights.
WERC-CÉDT has two key projects planned for 2026: the CHRA Project, which will include developing a plain-language guide to the Canadian Human Rights Act complaint process and offering legal information sessions for Canadian Human Rights Act complainants, and the Ottawa Worker Community Consultation Project, which will include surveys, interviews, and focus groups with workers and their advocates to understand the most urgent legal challenges facing workers in Ottawa as well as the barriers they face exercising their legal rights.
